Melvin Keith Anderson.

 

Born August 11, 1925; Married June 9, 1950 (Phyllis Wilkinson)

Children: Rodney Eugene Anderson, June 13, 1951; Becky Ann Anderson Richardson,
            July 4, 1953; Rickey Keith Anderson, August 3, 1957

 

Melvin Anderson was born to Reuben and Ruth Anderson in their home north of
Pine Bluffs, Wyoming.  He grew up there with two brothers and a sister.  He
attended the one room school at High Point Grades 1 and 3 through 6, and the
Albin Consolidated School Grades 2 and 7 through 12, graduating in 1943.
 He joined the US Navy V-12 program in March of 1943, going on active duty
in July.  In the Navy, he attended the University of Redlands and California
Institute of Technology with Midshipman training at Ft. Schuyler, N.Y.  The
commission was denied due to weak eyes and he was sent to boot camp at Great
Lakes Naval Training Station.  From boot camp he went into Radio Technicians
training, completing his service while at Aircraft Radio Technicians school
in Corpus Christi, Texas.

 

He then attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark., for two
years where he received a BS in Radio Engineering in 1948.  The following
year he earned an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming.
  Due to the possibility of service on the mission field, the next year was
spent studying at Bethel Seminary.  On. June 9, 1950, he married Phyllis
 Wilkinson in Nowata, Oklahoma, and in the fall he started teaching Electrical
Engineering at John Brown University.

 

After seven years and three children, he took a teaching position at
the University of Arkansas.  There he not only taught for eleven years but
completed work on a PhD in Engineering.  In 1968 the family moved to Longview,
Texas, where Melvin was the Chairman of the Electrical Engineering and
Technology Department of LeTourneau College.  In 1975 Melvin and Phyllis
moved to southern Illinois where he taught Electrical Engineering Technology
at Southern Illinois University.  In 1980 they moved to Denver, Colorado,
where be took a position with Martin Marietta Aerospace as an EMC
(electro-magnetic compatibility) engineer.

 

Rodney was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  He attended school in Springdale, Arkansas,
and the Pine Tree School in Longview, Texas.  He still lives in Longview where he works in manufacturing.

 

Becky was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  She attended school in
Springdale, Arkansas, and Pine Tree in Longview, Texas.  She then attended
LeTourneau College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Mathematics.  She
was married to Ken Richardson in December 1974.  They were divorced in 1978.
 Since then she has completed a second degree in accounting from the University
of Wyoming and is now working as an accountant for an insurance firm in Dallas.

 

Ricky was also born in Siloam Springs, and he, too, attended school in
Springdale, Arkansas, and the Pine Tree School in Longview, Texas.  He attended
one semester at Southern Illinois University and then returned to Texas
where he earned an Associate degree in drafting from Kilgore Junior College
in Kilgore, Texas.  He has worked for several engineering firms as a
draftsman and as an Electrical Project Trainee for Ling Industries in Dallas,
Texas.  On February 24, 1984, he married Kathy, a divorcee with a four-year
old son, Jeremy.  He now lives in. Plano, Texas.
